Dacon recently held a “Rope Access Training Institute Grand Opening” including a rope access demonstration for representatives of Thailand’s major refining and petrochemical companies. The event was well received by PTT Maintenance and Engineering, PTT Polymer Logistics Company Limited, SCG group, Rayong Olefin Company, Salamander Energy, CR Asia (Thailand), Oil States Industries (Thailand), COTL, LCB and HMC Polymers.
Rope access is a form of work positioning, initially developed from techniques used in climbing and caving, which applies practical rope work to allow workers to access difficult-to-reach locations without the use of scaffolding, cradles or mobile elevated work platforms. Dacon’s staff are certified and bound by rigorous adherence to safety characteristics developed and controlled by IRATA International. All types of inspection can be performed using rope access, providing huge time and cost savings to customers. Rope access has been in the inspection sector probably for longer than it has been in any other. This is probably because no machine or cradle can navigate a tubular steel construction better than a rope access technician. Through rope access we are able to offer our clients a thorough means of inspection due to the ability to closely access and inspect all areas of a structure.
With the opening of the Rope Access Training Institute and certification as an IRATA training center, Dacon plans to offer IRATA training to companies within Thailand and the Asia Region. Our state of the art training facilities and expert trainers will offer students the opportunity to learn Rope Access skills that can be applied in the workplace anywhere in the world whilst pushing Thailand forwards as a hub for quality inspection services.
As well as offering training Dacon also offers Rope Access services directly to clients and has supported numerous large scale rope access jobs both onshore and offshore. Typical work has been for major oil and gas and petrochemical companies and has included ongoing inspection programs for offshore platforms, inspecting tanks in FPSO’s, inspecting difficult to access flare tips on production facilities, inspecting difficult to access equipment on Petrochemical plants and numerous other applications and work scopes.
With a team of over 30 IRATA qualified rope access experts with dual inspection capabilities Dacon is well positioned to offer all types of Rope Access Inspection anywhere in the world.
